I’ve been busy, but I’m back again.

It’s been a while since I last posted – end of 2024. There are a couple of reasons why.

Firstly there was a major renovation at the building I live, including at the inside. I’ve been busy with that for a while and keeping everything out of harm’s way. They’re still not quite done, but at least they don’t have to work inside anymore.
It demanded a lot of my attention, because the housing corporation made some stupid decisions. As a matter of fact I was against the whole renovation, but it’s a matter of most votes I guess. At least that’s what they say…

Secondly I’ve been busy with my music course. We’re almost done with the first half of the year.
I’ve done a lot of homework assignments, making music compositions of about 30 seconds to a minute or so. Recently we have done a group assignment as well – creating a full track from scratch.
On the one hand I have to say the group assignment left something to be desired. Because the experience I got from it, is when you’re working with someone, you both make compromises trying to bring your ideas together. And well, those compromises end up compromising the end result.
On the other hand I did like the assignment and combined with other assignments I did I got some good ideas from it. Good ideas on which I’m working now. (New music to follow soon)

Recently I needed to push the brakes for myself and look up some rest and quiet. Today actually I went to Wijk aan Zee with the drone. My original plan was to fly on the beach. But I was a bit too late, the wind was too strong already. So I went back a bit to the town and took off there. I was in the air for a couple of minutes only and already got several strong wind warnings. I made my shots and came back down immediately afterward. The drone landed almost at the exact same spot it took off from, so it was pretty stable. It went pretty well.

The picture above is from Wijk aan Zee. Years ago I temporarily lived there and I loved it. To be able to easily walk to the beach every night from home. It’s a great place. Flying with the drone requires a lot of research. At this place it is actually forbidden to fly above the dunes. But the beach is ok and the part of the town I am standing now, around this grassy field is ok as well. I still took care not to fly above the grass though, because there is a fence around the grass you can not get through.

This picture is taken at the same place. This is what you see when turning the drone further to the left. This is the factory Tata Steel. When I lived here, I could smell this factory quite often. Maybe that was the downside of living there. But I guess this also made that period more memorable in a way.

I thought this picture is funny because it kinda looks like a post-apocalyptic wasteland with the trees like this. Like a screenshot from one of the Fallout games. But no worries, it is actually winter at the moment. So it makes sense. haha

So this is what’s going on at the moment. I’m still busy with stuff but there is new music on the way!
