10 Most Addictive Songs

Bouncy basslines, catchy melodies and perfect synthesized harmonies; these are 10 most addictive songs.

1: Gorillaz – DARE

Starting with a classic. It isn’t even about the nice fat bass that’s front and center in the mix, it’s about something more subtle: That staccato synth that’s playing together with the drums. Using a bit of swing, but clearly accentuating the downbeat. Now introduce that unique voice and you’ve got a golden combination.

2: AAA – Kimono Jet Girl

A lot of people in the West wouldn’t know this one, but it is definitely another classic. I’ve read something back in the day that the name ‘AAA’ is supposed to mean ‘Attack All Around’. Whether it’s true or not, I’m not 100% sure, but it would make sense as it shows the high energy this group always embodies. With this song in particular the voices and singing combine very well with both the rhythm and feel of the electric guitars. I particularly like the dancing in the video as well.

3: Monkey Majik + m-flo – Picture Perfect

This melody is super catchy. But it is more than that. The occasionally added harmonies and a great mix in addition to the melody make for a song that’s played on repeat over and over…

4: Pet Shop Boys – Love etc

Another great melody, but in this case played in triplets. And a nice call and response singing in the chorus. One of those songs that’s easy to sing along to.

5: Mr Polska – 1 miljoen vrienden

Coming from one of the smallest countries on Earth, Electronic genres in the Netherlands are improving a lot. With a pumping bassline and synth, this music is very danceable.

6: Serebro – Mama Luba

From start to finish this song just keeps on going. With the steady bass and drums it’s really satisfying. The trumpets and Russian language make it even better.

7: Perfume – Spinning World

In classic Yasutaka Nakata style (the producer of Perfume), a strong filtered saw bass is added that supports the music greatly. The sound of this bass is so ‘in your face’, you either hate it or you love it. But the timbre of the instruments, the placing of it and the mix sounds so balanced, it sounds like a rainbow in my mind. This one might even possibly be the best Perfume song I’ve heard.

8: Chocolate Puma – I Wanna Be U

Another one that’s very danceable. A nice rhythm that keeps going till the end and a melody that introduces different harmonies every now and then. Very well made.

9: petit milady – 100% Cider Girl

A completely random thing I stumbled upon a decade ago. Normally I don’t really listen to idol music, but when I heard this I immediately loved the chorus and bridge. The way they are pronouncing the words is a big part of it.

10: REOL – drop pop candy

In this track it’s all about harmony. The timbre of the sounds and harmony is done in such a way it makes it sound very unique. If I had to say what it sounds like to me, it would be an ‘electronic accordion’. I listened to this song on repeat a lot.
